From around seasons 7 to 8, FOX would see that the show was starting to become less relevant and lose its popularity a bit already and saw that the writers were running out of ideas. Knowing that the show is in decline FOX would start adding meta jokes about the shows decline within the show and constantly acknowledge that it is a show. Ironically, these seasons are just as if not more controversial that the previous 2 as many fans would leave show including writers and showrunners themselves.

These seasons aired during the films production and after. They are marked with constant references to the movie and trying to make the movie canon from even when it was in its earliest stages. It is really a combination of the meta era with constant movie ads and discussions, maybe that’s why Bort looks at the Simpsons house on the computer screen in the beginning of the movie.

FOX finally gets rid of the meta humor and the movie ads but unfortunately, the show become boring, very boring.

The show becomes an utter living Zombie as FOX really stops caring about quality and just wants cash, constantly churning out an already dead show.

In desperation for views, the show finally starts to rely on popular trends and memes, even outdated ones.

After being about cringey trends and memes, it finally starts to shift to where it is today, also in desperation for views after the failure of the cringe era to do so, constantly virtue signaling and trying to spread political propaganda through messages and ideas. that are often wrong and of course also cringe. It moved from meme and trend cringe to political cringe.
